Welcome to Edynn, my lovely guests. It's not open for roleplay as of yet, but it'll definitely be open for character creation very soon. You're welcome to join and check up on the progress of the site as it won't be much longer until it's complete and ready for roleplayers, but remember this is a LITERATE site. Use your better judgement. Oh, and if you see any misspellings or bugs or inaccurate information, please let me know! This site will be full of surprises, and on full moons it seems that strange things happen... (aka random events!) Stick around to check it out!

ILY ALL,
Shyler <3

[ ]tablets of ordinance
Located in the heart of an ancient stone temple, lit only by the dim glow of the moon and sun that manages to trickle in through a few cracks, the tablets of ordinance are held. They describe what it permissible and what is forbidden amongst the tribes; what is treason, what is loyalty, what is honorable and what is shameful. The tribes built their own system of laws that differ from tribe to tribe, but each various set of laws still complies with the Tablets of Ordinance. The aged, worn tablets are scarcely legible, but are hardly read other than on very significant occasions, and by the tribe's shaman. Tribe members, however, are required to learn them by heart, as you should know them now. They are required to be known before you start your journey, so you should probably stop in and take a look. Careful now, watch your step; these old stone staircases are a bit tricky and crumbly, not to mention the snakes crawling around the edges, hiding in the shadows...

[ ]the staff committee
The members of the staff call this their hub of activity, where we drink ice cold caffienated beverages while eating snacks and plotting to overtake the world--- er, I mean, we... um... talk about site improvements and secret staff-y projects. Yeah, that's it.
22
[ ]general chit-chat
We all need a break from constant roleplaying to clear our minds and rebuild our muse, so if you're not planning on leaving Edynn for a bit, it's a good idea to come and stop by the general chat board, right here. You can show off your artistic value, literature, tell us what he said she said he said, a day in the life of you, blow off steam in a rant, or just play some good ol' fashioned forum games! Games and rants have their own sub-board, so you don't have to be slapped in the face with a mini-rant when you're looking for a fun game to play. Enjoy <3

[ ]artistic confetti
Some of us just aren't gifted in the ways of art and design. If you need a set of forum images, such as an avatar and signature, feel free to post a request here. You can also request any other graphics you may require, or even offer your services. I'd suggest you come up with some sort of trade and see that the other person comes through with it, considering that I will not have any real currencies dealt with on this website. It's just too much of a hassle and I don't want to be held partially or fully responsible for any complications. In other words, NO SOLICITING. So, if you want to sell things in real currencies, go do it somewhere else. Don't even mention it here. Even if you're not interested in requesting art or offering art, you can always just post your deviantart account or whatever you're doing lately with your sketches and works in progress. We'd love to see!

[ ]greetings and farewells
Newer members may feel awkward joining a new site, so it's always nice to have a welcoming board where they can introduce themselves. Older members can come and welcome them to the site with open arms, and it just makes getting along in the site much easier when you know there is a friendly community behind the smoke and mirrors. Veteran members can also post their absences here, and when they'll be coming back, or posts on leaving Edynn for good. We sure hope you won't, but sometimes you just can't help things like that.
11
[ ]the ancient archives
As a forum grows, it will eventually fill with posts that have been claimed "dead" by those roleplaying within it. This means that it simply has not been replied to within a period of two weeks. Here, however, the lovely staff just tend to shuffle around and if we see a dead post, we move it to the Archives. The admin does a more thorough clear-out at the end of the month, however. Don't fret if your post is moved here and you didn't want it to be. Say you were on vacation, and you weren't finished replying, and when you return from your break, your half-finished post is poof! Relax. It was just moved here, and you may easily retrieve it by just asking a staff member nicely to move it, and to which board.

[ ]advertisements and affiliations
Need another roleplay to spice up your life? Have extra muse to spare, or want to get into another roleplay genre? Look no further than the adverts board, where happiness is just a teardrop away... okay, no. No it's not, but it's so catchy, isn't it? Other sites' members and admins are open to affiliate here, provided they abide by our affiliation and advertising rules.

[ ]bring me to existence (1 sub-board)
Any and all business dealing with characters and their creation should be properly dealt with here. If you post a character and don't plan to finish it within a week, it goes straight to the unfinished characters area, no questions asked. This is just to keep things nice and tidy. Even better, if you know you're not going to finish your bio, start the application on the unfinished characters area, so we don't have to move it there ourselves. Make sure to put "unfinished" or "incomplete" or something of that nature in your title if your character biography isn't finished, obviously. Staff members will come around and make suggestions about your bio, no questions asked. It is constructive critique and advice, and you may choose to follow it or disregard it. I, Shyler, am particularly keen on helping out members with their roleplaying abilities and forms, and I understand what it's like to be totally out of inspiration for a character, as I'm sure we all have. Just do your best, and we'll take it from there. Help is easily reached by messaging the staff, so don't be afraid to ask.
68
[ ]tested and approved
After meeting the rigorous standards of Edynn's requirement criteria, your biography will be poked and prodded for freshness and durability. Or one of the staff members will read over it and give it some crit if necessary, and then turn it over to this board. And then, ONLY then, you may start roleplaying.
37
[ ]once upon a time . . .
You can make your own mini-plots here with your characters, to keep a bit of spice around this joint! We can't all be Nancy Drews and have a ghost mauling our faces off every minute of the day, so we have to keep ourselves entertained somehow. Be careful when posting plots that could prove to be long-term, and make sure you stick with them. Sometimes all it takes is one little mini-plot to give your extra muse a jolt and keep you from getting bored, but it's totally up to you.
00
[ ]personal logs
Some people like to have logs for their characters. Others simply don't. A log is basically a basic (sometimes elaborate) post listing the character's friends, enemies, battles won, and so forth. It sometimes includes a brief personality description, and most often some fancy shmancy coding to go along with it all. There is no limit on what you can include, so go crazy! Let me kindly remind you that logs are NOT seperate BIOGRAPHIES. Bios are just that; bios. Logs are footnotes of the character's current relationships, in a nutshell.
11
[ ]private tutoring
If you're a literate roleplayer, but just can't find the right words to use, have a question about a concept in the game, or just need a bit of practice fighting, hunting, and so forth, this board is meant for you and is well worth a look. Exceptionally literate and knowledgeable members may be promoted to the position of roleplay tutor, in which they will assist others who need help with their literacy or writing abilities, and will help them get through a little rough spot if need be.

[ ]Snowy Mountain Peaks
This is the farthest a human can go up the mountain without getting terribly sick due to lack of oxygen; and that's the fittest of people, mind you. Most people in Ranusta can hardly make it midway up the peak, but fortunately, most of the prey lives at the middle portion of the mountain, for they are just like humans; they DO need oxygen, you know. There is a good amount of mountain goat, whose steady balance and small feet help them up the mountain, and are able to be recognized by their curled horns. However, it can sometimes be hard to spot one, for their hair is long, wavy, and white, breaking up their silhouette, and their horns are the same color as the rocks of the mountain that lay exposed, but to a trained eye, it's a only a bit of a challenge. Rabbits are also one of the animals that mainly live here, as well as arctic foxes, whose pelts turn blackish or gray in the summer months, making hunting a bit easier. In the winter months, though, they are pure white or white with gray ticking on their fur. A few birds of prey, like snowy owls, are also here, but they're scarcely hunted or able to be spotted. Whatever you choose to hunt, you'd better bring a long-range weapon, such as a bow and arrow. Be careful, though; Snow Leopards are defininely your competition, and it's best not to aggravate the big cats, otherwise, you'll be running for your life.
00
[ ]Mountain Pass
The Ranusta Mountain Pass, more commonly referred to as just the Pass, is the snowy tribe's one way exit to all forms of outside life. Just beyond a valley, the pass is guarded with a tall and strong pine fence, towering at about twenty feet in the air. The people of Ranusta were careful to carve sharp points at the top of each pole, so armed sentries aren't needed. However, one could stare and examine the fence long enough to compile a way around it, but for now, none have tried. A bit beyond the gate is a slightly deeper valley, but overall the ground remains fairly even. This is one of the few places that thaws completely in the snowy region. however, it tends to flood a bit in spring equinox. After a good ten minutes of walking, you'll find the hidden camp of the Ranusta people.
00
[ ]Tan'acka Falls
Tan'acka falls would be one of the most fertile locations in Edynn if it was placed somewhere else. In the summer months, it's practically teeming with life, with freshwater fish, namely salmon, swimming upstream against the hard current. There are flowers of various colors, but not too flashy; though it's enough to make any Ranustinian's day come the summer solstice. Normally, everything in Ranusta territory is snow and ice, and its nice to know that the land does regrow and replenish itself every year instead of the same scene of white blanketing the earth. The Falls is the only place where the people of Ranusta can get their fresh water for drinking and also for a substantial source of food in all seasons; fish. The bubbling oxygen flowing in streams from the pounding water attracts salmon, much like a filter is to an aquarium fish. Ironically so, Tan'acka Falls is never frozen over, as it always flows huge amounts of water down the river, plummeting down the 300-foot drop into a large pond, and then flowing forward into a river, which touches all four corners of Edynn; The Untamed, Kezqa, Ranusta, and Moscka. It's one of the substantial sources of water for all four tribes and animals alike.
00
[ ]The Foothills
Just before you reach the mountain pass, you'll obviously have to journey across the wavy horizon of the Foothills, claimed as Ranusta Territory. There is quite a bit more coniferous foliage than farther up the mountain, where the conditions are much harsher and extreme. Towering at extraordinary heights are various species of evergreens, while smaller varieties of hardy, year-round trees and bushes cover the lower portion of the forest. It's not exactly a thickly wooded place, but it's a good enough place to hunt for caribou and deer, and on a rare occasion, a snowy leopard making its way to the top of the mountain to its cave dwelling. Such a catch would be a rare feast and should be nothing less than celebratory. The Ranustinians have mastered the art of walking slowly and steadily, with a careful stride and practiced hand when they hunt in these parts; one false move, and it's game over for you, and the animal more than likely escapes. It takes quite a master of the craft of spear-crafting and bow and arrow creation to hunt on such unstable, hilly, and oddly-foilaged land, but it definitely is possible, and its how the Ranusta tribe gets most of its food income. Even though guards are not normally sent out to patrol so far off the mountain and away from Ranusta camp, hunters will promptly defend their land if an outsider is caught wandering on land that is righfully theirs.
00
[ ]Crescent Caverns
Some say that the Ranustinians are among the most spiritual of the tribes; or at least, they were back in the grand days of the tribes. It was here that the people of Ranusta did the most praying to the gods, and it's no wonder why they chose this mystical cave as their former place to praise their gods. The walls of the cave are of rainbow shades of rock, deep maroon, red, indigo, purple, golden orange, yellow, greens and turquoises, even magenta and pinks. When you enter the cave, it seems like any ordinary cave, but as you travel down the only tunnel entrance, it appears to get more colorful and brighter as you walk further into the deep cavern, carved into the side of the mountain by an ancient river. Soon enough, the tunnel leads into a large circular area of the cavern, in which the ceiling towers high above your head. In the center there is a pool of shimmering water, and at the bottom of the huge pool of water, coalescing with the same colors that are on the wall, you observe it a bit closer. A giant crystal sits at the very bottom of the pool of shimmery, mystical water, and it is said that if your wounds are touched by this water from the Crescent Cavern, it is said that your wounds will be healed before your very eyes. On the ceiling there is a small hole, only a foot in diameter, but on the day of the crescent moon, it casts a crescent moon shadow onto the water, and the rainbow colors and shadows dance across the walls. Of course, few have seen such a rare sight, but sometimes one will get lucky, for it only happens once every season, and few can make the treacherous journey up the mountain; not to mention that if you were from Kezqa or Moscka tribes, you'd be tresspassing on Ranusta land. However, it has the greatest view from a large "picture window" in the rock, and is certainly a great place to watch the aurora borealis and painted sunset.

[ ]Estinah Coastline & Islets
Estinah Coastline is the defining feature of Kezqa. That is, it's what people think of when they think of the tribe. "Kezqa = sea". That being said, it is common for the Kezqans to bear a golden tan, but not always. Despite what some might think, the coastline isn't always a good place to fish and usually not to hunt other animals, but sometimes it can provide a good outlet for a Kezqan angler in high tide; in high tide, all of the saltwater fish species come up closer to the beach, and although they aren't huge, they're definitely enough to make a meal if you catch several. The fishes' scales are of various colors and shimmer like the rainbow, and are usually about a foot or two in length. For larger fish species, one must go out to the Islets on a boat, where treacherously deep ocean trenches separate the six tiny islets. It's definitely the spot to catch some big sea-dwellers, but for some, fishing just isn't the sport for them; though, it would be a bit strange to have a Kezqan citizen to not have good fishing skills, as that's what they subside on, mostly; fish. They also may hunt a few other creatures on the edge of the Coast, where deer and coyotes emerge from the hot meadowlands. Coyotes are the competition for deer, so its essential to keep some of the coyote population down if you want to have a healthy deer population. Other than business and hunting, many just like to take a walk across the warm sands, watching the sun paint his fiery canvas at sunfall, and lady moon cloak the skies with her curtain of dusky blue.

[ ]The Darpolla Grottos
The Darpolla Grottos, more commonly referred to as simply the Grotto, is a long chain of borderline caves filled with nooks and such, that had to have been carved out by a once-great flowing current. Perhaps that suggests that the sea was once higher than it is at present? At any rate, back to the Grottos. There is no way to get to them unless you use a kayak or some other form of a boat, or if you swim. The water is quite deep, though; even though you can go quite far out on the main shoreline on foot, the grotto goes down all the way to the ocean floor, and has a very, very steep drop off. The water goes from crystal clear blue on one end by the shoreline, to dark indigo-black by the grotto. Sometimes, large fish and even sharks swim around here, making it a bit dangerous, but it's well worth it once you get inside the grotto. Similar to the Crescent Caverns in Ranusta territory, once you get inside, it's a small pool of water that's collected from the sea. The entrance is extremely small and dark, and you'd better bring a torch or something of the sort of you want to see anything. Though, you may not want to see anything until you reach the main tunnel, for it can be quite creepy inside the tunnels. They are moist and damp, and there is no light, so there are no spiders or things like that, but there are lots of centipedes and fish in the tunnel water, even a few snakes and crayfish; the catch? They're all albino. Their white, pigmentless skin and red eyes are easily something out of a horror movie to some, and to others, it's amazing sci-fi experience. At any rate, as you get farther into the cave, there are bats, and some fish are occasionally in there, washed in from the tide, but it's all worth it once you get inside to the main pool of water, a bottomless hot spring. There's a circular cut in the top of the ceiling, like the Crescent Caves, and it lets in just enough sunlight and just enough moonlight to act as a romantic mood setter. You may have to get your feet wet, and it may be a bit cold, though!
00
[ ]Estinah Inlands
Despite the fact that the inlands aren't really that far from the sea, they're about as far as the Kezqans can get from water in their territory. This place has sand on the outer edges, where the Mangrove Forest and the Coastline form its Western and Southern borders, with small pools of water that have been collected and carved out from the rain and such. Frogs love to sit and sunbathe, halfway submerged in these puddles... well, until a coyote comes and swipes them up. Poor little guys... what? I love froggies! -pets- Eventually, the sand is gradually replaced by beach grasses and wheat-like plants, and the sand is scarcely visible. This is where most of the prey animals graze, such as deer and hare, and coyotes can sometimes be found relaxing in the tall grass farther inland. As you resume following the path of grass that just seems to get taller as you walk, before you know it, it's over your head. You then notice that a very small, narrow path has been worn down by many years of being walked across by past generations of Kezqans, but the new plants are still growing up as sprouts, sometimes making the path hard to follow. Some deer are found here as well as small snakes, too, but it's quite hard to find them. Careful, now, the occasional tiger may stalk in from Moscka territory to hunt in the tall grasses, where their stripes are at their best use... so watch your back. If you make it through the exceedingly tall grasses, the tiny, dwindling path will eventually lead you to the Kezqan camp, where numerous activities are usually going on. No one would know that a huge clearing was in the middle of this vast grassland supporting a huge tribe; well, save for the other Tribes, but they don't know exactly where in the mass it is. A few dogs are usually tied to stakes in the ground, guarding various lightweight tents around a large center campfire. Kezqa tribe members must be careful, though, not to discuss their plans in the middle of the camp, but rather in private; the Ranustinians could spy on them from their mountain range, should they have the desire. It's never happened before, though, so why should it happen now?
